Savanna killed by owl

Savanna was killed by a Great Horned Owl on June 12, 2023. Goodbye, beautiful brave falcon. She died defending her young. Male Newman did an excellent job defending them and getting them to fledge in her absence. At least two more of Savanna's young were killed by (presumably) the same owl. We do not know how many survived, although we spotted a young banded falcon exploring a nearby sandbar in late July. We were not able to get a band number, but the location and timing suggests one of Savanna and Newman's young.
