How did I get here…
I have been involved in emergency management for over 30 years, serving as a cyber incident responder, Title 9 investigator, Emergency Operations Center member, all hazards planner, basic life support instructor, scuba diver emergency manager, continuity of operations and business continuity planner.
I am also a public speaker, frequently invited to present on topics including information security, privacy, social media and artificial intelligence.
Finally, I am an educator. I teach, mentor, and facilitate discussions related to risk management, policy development, all-hazard planning, and emergency response.
Amateur Radio Emergency Services
My work has led to an interest and involvement in Amateur Radio Emergency Services, a service provided by the Amateur Radio Relay League. Here I use my training, skills, and equipment to provide communications during emergencies, serving our communities when storms or other disasters damage critical communication infrastructure, and wired and wireless networks.
Qualifications
I have a strong educational background. I hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science education, a master’s in educational leadership, and a post graduate certificate in Cybersecurity and Privacy law.
I am a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Beyond certifications, I have also taken hundreds of hours of education related to information security, incident management, emergency response, and communications through a variety of agencies.
