Day 19: Visitors not welcome!

April 23, 2019

D32 shuffled all the way across the nest today and chased off a small intruder in a moment reminiscent of DM2's wing whaps. An active eagle nest is a busy place! Mice and birds build their own nests in the 'basement' and filch nesting material and scraps of protein. While the eagles sometimes eat mice, they also keep dangerous specialist hunters - like owls - at bay.

As the eaglets imprint on their parents and one another, we see them start to take notice of intruders, play with nest materials, and begin gaining the skills they'll need for life outside the nest.
